What is Career Community?

Career Communities are your guide for exploring, making connections and launching a career in a specific field of interest. Communities provide information, opportunities for exploration and experience, and mutual support in a variety of ways. Through these communities, students will cultivate professional skills with guidance from career advisors, industry experts, alumni, faculty and employers in their chosen field of interest.

Students schedule advising appointments based on their interest in exploring or pursuing careers in the following career communities. Our career communities are organized by career fields and industries. Instead of asking, “What can I do with a major in _________?", start by asking “What work environments and job duties interest me?". If that sounds scary or overwhelming, let us help!

Arts, Media, & Entertainment : Do you consider yourself to be creative, expressive, or imaginative? Are you interested in learning about developing public relations campaigns, stage production, or creating museum exhibits? Does is sound like fun to work in a less structured environment with the freedom to voice your originality? Could you see yourself planning art projects or sporting events for others to enjoy?

Business & Entrepreneurship

Do you consider yourself to have strong communication, management, or numerical skills? Are you interested in learning about marketing a product or conducting a financial analysis? Does it sound like fun to try to persuade or influence those around you? Could you see yourself working in a corporate environment collaborating with others to accomplish company goals?

Education Technology & Innovation

Education technology can be used to support learning and teaching in K-12, higher education, adult education and more. Roles in education technology can be very diverse, as are the work environments. Here are some paths to consider if you are interested in education technology:
